More Proofs Around Us-Part 1by | 21-09-2013 06:45 |

Earth's climate evolves. This is a given fact that we all must accept. In just the last 650,000 years the earth has experienced 7 cycles of glacial advance and retreat. However, the abrupt end to the last ice age was also around the time that modern human civilization arose. So, we has humans have not experienced any dramatic changes in our climate. We are often ignorant to the power of climate change. Perhaps that is why we can become so ignorant to the fact that we are the cause of the sudden changes in the environment. In this article I will present the proofs around us that will make most of us think and reflect upon the world, its situation, and the cause of this situation. So, we start with some definite facts:
Now based upon these two facts we can analyse the observations that we make in our world and then understand them to be evidences for human induced global warming. 1. Sea Water Rise: Sea level rise in the past decade has been nearly doubled than the last century. 2. Global Temperature Rise: All three major global surface temperature reconstructions show that Earth has warmed since 1880. Most of this warming has occurred since the 1970s, with the 20 warmest years having occurred since 1981 and with all 10 of the warmest years occurring in the past 12 years. Even though the 2000s witnessed a solar output decline resulting in an unusually deep solar minimum in 2007-2009, surface temperatures continue to increase. 3. Oceans Warming: The oceans have absorbed much of this increased heat, with the top 700 meters (about 2,300 feet) of ocean showing warming of 0.302 degrees Fahrenheit since 1969. These are just some of the evidences that can be found around the world. Look around you and see if you can spot evidences. Proofs are something that are natural and wait to be discovered. In the next article we will discuss more proofs of the ultimate fact I wish to establish: we are responsible for climate change. |
