Small Acts Big Difference- 1

by Aaditya Singh | 06-09-2013 22:10

I am back in Dubai, after a long summer break wherein I had very limited access to Internet and not much contact with all of you. Now that I am back, there is so much new information to read and become aware about, on the Tunza Eco Forum.

From my side, I want to just say that it is a great privilege for me to be a part of this forum and I am learning so much from all the members and their activities. So long as we all understand our individual responsibility and work to involve others and spread awareness, I am sure we will be able to make a big difference.

I am posting a small measure that my family takes to reduce, resuse and recycle. Many of us get so involved and excited about recycling that we forget that recycling is the last alternative after trying reducing and reusing.

We all give and receive gifts and use wrappers to make them look attractive. Gift wrap is only meant to make the gift look beautiful till the recipient opens it. So should it become useless after that? In my home, I donot remember when was the last time we bought gift wrapping paper.  If we get a gift, we make sure that we open the wrapping paper carefully and reuse it if possible. If it is not possible to reuse, it goes for recycling. We also use newspapers as gift wraps by decorating them with cutouts from magazines and encourage friends to recycle the paper instead of throwing it in the bin. I am sure friends will appreciate the thought behind this action as also the effort taken by us to decorate the gift more than any expensive wrapping paper.
Do we do this to save money?
No, we are doing it to save ourselves by saving the environment.
And yes of course it saves money also!
