Glimpse of Constructive Activities in Hariyokharka and Institute of Forestry (IOF).by | 03-09-2013 17:12 |

![]() ![]() When World Environment Day (WED) approaches every student of IOF starts to clean their hostel areas. On the day of WED, IOF becomes very clean due to the combined efforts of both the teachers, staffs and students. On special occasions like forest day, wildlife week etc, IOF becomes very clean and municipality sends vehicles to collect garbage. Yeah! It?s too good to involve all the stakeholders in the sanitation process. But the problem is why no any stakeholders show the same work and feeling on other days as well? The same person acts like a polluter on the remaining days. In addition, concrete roads and side drainage system is under construction in the hariyokharka but the drainage is built on such an unmanaged way that the drainage is going to enter into IOF within few months. Due to lack of sufficient budget, the municipality decided to link outer drainage system to the drainage system of IOF without consultation with IOF administration. The drainage of IOF perhaps can?t safely work on the designed construction channel of municipality. I think there will be water flowing on the road of IOF during rainy season due to huge entrance of water of whole hariyokharka into IOF after few months. The main problem is due to lack of enough budgets and planning. Similarly, a water tank is under construction in IOF which has resulted into the cut of many trees. It has resulted into landslide in Banpale forest of IOF. I know the administration of IOF is not so much ecofriendly and don?t take environmental issues seriously. A staff building is also under construction. According to the source, the funding is made by Tribhuwan University. Of course! Opportunities come with challenge. However, for the new construction, detail planning must be done to result into less damage to the environment and existing facilities. Only the service without any side effect in IOF is the environmental service provided by Banpale danda (forest of IOF). When we look at this forest all the pain gets automatically healed.
