![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() September 1, 2013 - Today I listened to some old environmentalists who came to talk about what they could do for Sampaloc Lake, the biggest of the seven crater lakes in our City. I grew up seeing these people meeting in my grandmother's house. They met very often to talk about what they would do. They talked about the demolition of the illegal structures along the lake. They talked about all the problems like algal bloom and proliferation of water hyacinth. They also talked about too many fishcages in the lake. I used to go with them when they had rallies when I was a little boy. I grew up calling them uncle, auntie, grandma and grandpa. But now I am old enough to sit and listen in their meetings. I am the little boy on the right in the bottom picture. I learn a lot just listening to them. Today I learned that they need to get the Mayor of our city to be our ally or partner if we want to be successful in our environment campaign. |
