
The cleaning division of Bee?ah Corporation, which is responsible for collecting waste and beautifying the city of Sharjah(UAE), has launched a new group of electric vehicles to enhance cleaning operations and collecting waste that reaches 600,000 tonnes daily. The new fleet includes zero-emission mobile equipment such as new waste compressors, vacuum cleaners for residential areas and street brooms. It also includes the region?s first boat that runs on solar energy, which collects waste reaching up to 200 kg from water bodies in Sharjah. The launch of the eco-friendly fleet is another new beginning for Sharjah towards achieving the status of ?the green emirate? .The introduction of a solar boat is expected to raise the efficiency of Bee?ah to keep a safe and clean environment for residents of Sharjah. It is characterised by its size that makes it suitable to clean all water bodies in Sharjah (Al Mamzar and Khalid). It is provided with a ceiling of solar panels to generate the required power to operate its two engines. The boat can collect floating waste such as plastic, polystyrene and wood to be stored on board in designated containers before being sent to the recycling plants.
