The youngest headmaster in the world

by | 21-08-2013 05:04

A 19-year-old Babar Ali, called "the youngest headmaster in the world" by the BBC, has been running an open-air school on a large ground in a village in Murshidabad, West Bengal for past 8 years now, where he and his friends teach at least five hundred students every day.

In an area where the problem of absentee teachers affects teaching adversely Babar Ali 's makeshift school is the only hope for hundreds of students in the neighbourhood. Babar Ali was just 11 when he and his two friends first started the school. Among his fans is Nobel Prize winner Amartya Sen.
