          For last 3 days from 11th Aug till 13th Aug , I ( as organising volunteer member of "Students for the Earth") was busy with the charity Souq organised at Sharjah Mega Mall , Sharjah , UAE. This Charity is a part of "Big Heart Campaign" which is an initiative of Sheikha Jawahar wife of Ruler of Sharjah , UAE and Supreme Council member , aimed to show solidarity towards Syrian Refugee children. One merchant actually donated 120 kg artificial pearl , out of which 62kg (equal to his wife weight as he said) was displayed in this 3 days souq. We were total around 47 volunteers . 10 volunteers were placed at the souq to attend to customers and try to sell them pearls and accessories . Rest of the volunteers were moving around the mall trying to pull crowd towards souq , overall everyone has just one mission -to collect as much funds as possible for this good cause. We were selling the pearl strings at very very nominal value (much less than market value) just to get funds for Syrian Refugee children. I and other 2 members of Group "Students for the Earth" were in the organising committee. Ever since we came to know of this , we were working tirelessly to make it a big success. It was such a pleasure to co-organise this event for a good cause. I ,as a member of core committee/organising committee, was involved in volunteers information compiling , setting up the venue, badge distribution , overseeing the event , pulling crowds towards souq,co-ordination with Sheikha's office , guiding other volunteers , allocating tasks to every one -making sure things go smooth. Her excellence Sheikha's office was so pleased and impressed with our attitude and sincerity that they offered to give us certificates. On the last day , in the last hour , Manager from Sheikha's office gave us certificate . It was such an enriching experience , to be a part of this event . Organising it was even more of an experience. This high profile fund raising event was telecasted last 2 days continuously on "Sharjah TV" , will be telecasted on "Jaihind TV" tomorrow and few more media are covering it. I truely believe in "Charity washes sin just as water extinguishes fire" |
