In 2011, 640 people died because diarrhea, ten times of HIV and drug victims but campaign and intervention about it less than the last two. Government seems focused to combat HIV and drug more than to providing fresh water and clean sanitation for people.

You may think, how could Indonesia (one of biggest rain forest country) cannot supply enough water for their people. But it happen. Rain comes almost everyday, but there is no fresh water to used.

First, deforestation. Illegal logging is big business in Indonesia if you want to get rich yet kill the future of living. Second, lees watershed to keep fresh water underneath the ground. So water easily goes by to the ocean.

Back to the people, it is hard to get access for good quality of water. Then, people and children defecate everywhere they want. Could be on dirty river or on the open ground. Just poop.

Bad sanitation, especially behavior of defecate, increase diarrhea cases in my district. Like I said before, diarrhea kills.

If water isn't available, then composting toilet can be solution to improve sanitation of people. You may think, "ewww that's gross", but it's not for you. It's for people who day to day struggle for clean water and poverty. One alternative idea anyway.
