Institute of Forestry (IOF) is located at the heart of Pokhara City, the second largest city of Nepal. Very few green portions can be seen in the core of city but can be seen abundant greenery along the periphery. IOF covers vital portion of this greenery in the core of the city when looked from the World Peace pagoda. The total area of IOF is reported to be 45 ha out of which 15 ha is covered by infrastructures of college such as Hostels, Administration Blocks, Staff quarters etc and the remaining area is covered by green forest. The major species in this forest is Schima Castanopsis. Locally it is called Chilaune Kattus forest. Some rare species such as Asiatic Rock Python, Leopards, Deer species etc are also found in this forest. This forest is named as Banpale Danda. |
