Road: development not degradation

by | 10-08-2013 11:26

One man asked me showing a half filled glass, ?Tell me whether it is half filled or half empty?? I answered the best I could. The questioner told me that the answer of this question clearly reflects the attitudes and thinking of a person whether s/he is positive or negative in his attitude and feeling.

Similarly, when I stand on the concrete roads of nearby areas of IOF, what I feel is the road is indirectly examining the attitudes of people. The concrete of the roads can be seen in patch and pothole is found everywhere. In the degraded part of road water is found to be accumulated. In addition, there is no proper drainage mechanism for the rain water. It is the general condition in most of the roads of Nepal.

We want to develop positive attitude and prove it. Thus, with pleasing face, we say these roads are development not degradation (^+^).

Along the sides of the road and even on the middle of it, wastes especially cover of chocolate, Biscuits, Noodles, plastics are found. It is quite common here. Actually, fresh air is hard to breathe due to dusty roads and these wastes although we claim ourselves as rich in biodiversity and forest resources.

The collection and disposal of these waste occurs only in some special occasion such as World Environment Day, Wildlife week, International day of Forest etc but in other day nobody cares even the government don?t cares about it.
