Conserve Tropical forests

by Arushi Madan | 07-08-2013 14:58

The world's tropical forests contains huge amount of carbon dioxide. So when they are destroyed for farmland or other purposes , they release their stored carbon prematurely and in the quantities greater than all the world's cars , trucks and planes combined. The result is global warming leading to changing rainfall patterns , rising ocean levels and increased droughts . Thus , one of the quickest and most cost effective ways to reduce global carbon emissions is to conserve tropical forests. And when we do that , we also :
> protect the natural habitat of many threatened and endangered species ,

> preserve the livelihood and incomes of local communites
and
>curb the climate change .
