School Festival

It?s been quite a while since I wrote an ambassador report due to SAT, school exam, and of course various environmental activities. One simple, but effective activity that I would like to introduce is a campaign. However, campaigns need to be held at the right time so I planned a campaign on our school festival day.

We sold herbs, plants, and also painted people?s nails with something called ?bong-soong-a?. Bong-soong-a is a flower whose pigment, if used to paint somebody?s nails, is very hard to erase. For the herbs, we sold lemonbam, lavender, and rose marries. We also sold fruits such as strawberries and blueberries. They were all in different containers. A few were in bag pots that can be grown in a bag, some were in a mini plastic pot, the size of a finger, and the rest were in a regular pot.

Our cost was about 50,000 won. At the end though, we made a total of about 100,000 won leaving us with a profit of 50,000 won. Our former intention for the campaign was to raise money for the forum that our group was going to organize at December. However, due to the miniscule amount of money we raised compared to what we planned, we decided to just share the money between ourselves.

To those who want to advertise or teach people about the environment and make them participate too, I would recommend this kind of campaign. Although you might end up with a profit lower than expected, many people will be interested. In my case, the nail-art was a big success. While they were having their nails polished, we explained the benefits of buying and growing a plant to them and the world. Like this, if you choose a good selection of goods to sell, you can both earn money, give ?green-info? to the people, and make them actually participate!
