I would like to share with all of you an interesting thing which happened yesterday (21st July) during the time when we ,Serve the Heroes , were giving charity Iftar meals to Bee'ah labourers at their labour camp. We had carried the food items in cartons. After the contents of cartons were distributed , the empty cartons were lying. Some people there , while pointing in the direction of trash bin , told us to remove these cartons and throw them in the big trash bin lying nearby. Few of us present there were environmentalist and are Tunza members . We screamed together "No No Uncle we should not throw them in trash bin , we should collect them for recycling and NEVER throw such cartons or any paper as it is bad for environment" . They then asked us how is that bad. We then explained them that if these thrown in general trash bin , would add to landfill which is bad. If these are segregated and given to some recycling centre for recycling it would save few trees as paper comes from trees. They were very impressed and were telling each other "kids of today are very smart and intelligent". The !==!--object--==ive of me sharing this incident with you is to encourage all of us NOT to feel shy in taking back and collecting used/empty boxes. Infact , wherever possible , we must educate more and more people about the 3Rs (Reduce, Reuse & Recycle) of environment conservation . It is not always necessary to conduct formal lectures. In our day to day lives , if we come across people who are ignorant of some vital facts regarding enviornment conservation , we must share our knowledge with them. That's how every one in this world would get to know the HOWs and WHYs of environment conservation. |
