UK Cricket Tour

by Arushi Madan | 19-07-2013 04:34

Now that I am back from my UK Cricket tour. I can get back to writing reports or articles here on Tunza site.  My 12 days stay at UK was full of fun, activity , Cricket matches , sight seeing. The main !==!==!--object--====ive of going to UK was to play Cricket matches with English clubs , academies  , English school teams , English Community teams. Big Group of 165 in 7 teams went to UK .

I was in ladies/girls teams called "Desert Roses" .We played 5 matches in total at Cardiff , Leeds and  London. We also visited famous Lords stadium and got to do net practice there. In Lords stadium , we saw the huge press area/press room , dress room ,"infamous/unofficial Saurav Ganguly balcony "(where he took off his shirt on beating England).

In terms of this series/tournament I got "The Player of the match" award for 1st match and "the Best Bowler" for the 2nd match and again "the Best Bowler" for last match. It was a very good experience playing with English players on UK ground/pitch  under hot sun.Our ladies team "Desert Roses" had players from different age groups ranging 14 years to 42 years. I was the youngest player in my team and I was humbled when I was chosen as opening bowler for most of the matches.
The Chief guest in final function was Mr. Gordon Greenidge who is  former member of the West Indies Cricket Team, the popular West Indies opening Batsman who was behind the victory of West Indies in World Cup in 1975 and 1979.   I would never forget this tour in my life.
