Courage

I have no regret in applying as a Tunza Eco-generation ambassador. I am enjoying every single moment being an ambassador of this environmental platform created by Samsung Engineering and United Nations Environment Programme. I can do something for the environment while immersing myself in a work that is close to my interests. Never did I imagine that being an ambassador, I can do so much things I thought I am not capable of.

It was a usual Saturday for me. I woke up, eat breakfast and go to school. But unusual events happened that day: I was going to be at the Carolinian Debate Society (CDS) and the Jaycees (Junior Chamber International) Orientation. At first, I was hesitant to attend such enormous gathering. In fact, I was shaking by the mere thought of speaking in front of seasoned debaters and speakers. To make things worse, I was probably older than half of them!

Nevertheless, I gathered my courage and went to the Jaycees Orientation first. The organization was involved in civic works and I was interested in joining so as to gain experience while promoting the Tunza Eco-generation platform. Aware that I was noticed, I listened to the speaker attentively.

After the orientation, I went to the Carolinian Debate Society. Everything about this day was normal but the events were unusual. I was told to debate on some issues. I was scared. I was doubtful I can properly do it. I was not sure of my arguments. I was not sure about myself.

For always, I have always been aloof. I do not join organizations since I feel like I am always left behind. That time though, I had to get out of my comfort zone and to make myself visible so as to properly represent Tunza Eco-generation as its 10th Ambassador to Philippines.

It did pay off well. I met several people in Jaycess and CDS who were as passionate as I am about the environment. They were so much intrigued about the platform and asked how to become an ambassador. I have successfully achieved my goal of getting into contact with like-minded people.

After talking to them, I asked them to help me with spreading the word. Luckily, one of them committed to help me in the event. We were planning to go to schools around Cebu City to promote the Tunza Eco-generation and encourage green living. I hope that this partnership will pursue and will help the environment in little ways we can.

I am happy that the Eco-generation Team is very responsive and accommodating in sending promotional goods. I may have to buy a camera so I can properly document all the activities I will be doing but I am sure lucky to be selected as an ambassador.

Everything I do today will eventually be a memory that I will be treasuring for the rest of my life.

Thank you Tunza Eco-generation for the opportunity!
