Recycling of rubber tyres

This is further to my earlier report on huge tyre landfills in Kuwait

There are some wonderful websites on the net with ideas on how tyres can be recycled at individual level. Link to one such website is attached.

This is just one such website and many more are there. I am showing this to my father and hopefully will be posting pictures of some recycling efforts with tyres in the course of time as and when we have to change the tyres of our car. However, as I understand UAE does have facilities for recycling of tyres. I have in fact attended Earth Day Walkathons organised by Beeah in Sharjah on the Majaz Waterfront, where there is a track made with 6000 recycled rubber tyres.

But, wherever the governments donot have large scale tyre recycling facilities, people can definitely take things in their own hands and avoid dumping the tyres in landfills.
