October Free Report: An Update on South Korea

by Cheha Paik | 31-10-2022 20:16

South Korea is a place that many people dream to visit one day. You hear great reviews of service, food, culture, and diversity it brings that many people desire and want. However, what is the environment like in South Korea?

South Korea is a place that I am pretty familiar with. As a student attending an international school in South Korea, I¡¯ve encountered many specific things that are related to the environment. For example, something unique to South Korea and a few other countries is that we have a specific waste management unlike that of America for example. While America uses trash and recycling bins for waste management, South Korea has many more specific bins for plastic, paper, food, etc. Thus, South Korea¡¯s waste is more manageable. However, it is obviously not always kept. Experiencing South Korea last year, I noticed many waste products on the floor and beside the streets. However for the most part, waste management in South Korea is better.

For more about South Korea¡¯s environment, the weather in South Korea is becoming colder, and windier. For the last few months, the temperature in Korea was very hot and the weather was unpredictable. There were times where South Korea received tons of rain that caused a mass flooding in big areas of South Korea. However, the weather is cooling down as it ranges from 10 to 20 degrees Celsius almost everyday.

All in all, this is the overall condition of South Korea in terms of the environment. Although there are lots more to talk about, these two topics are the most noticeable.
