Know a little about plastic

by | 21-06-2013 01:59

Plastic is a synthetic material made from a wide range of organic polymers such as polyethylene, PVC, nylon, etc., that can be molded into shape. In 1600 BC, Mesoamericans used natural rubber for balls, bands, and figurines. In the early 1900s, Bakelite, the first fully synthetic thermoset was reported by Belgian chemist Leo Baekeland. In 1933, polyethylene was discovered by Imperial Chemical Industries (ICI) researchers Reginald Gibson and Eric Fawcett. It was After the First World War, improvements in chemical technology led to an explosion in new forms of plastics mass production began around the 1940s and 1950s. Today one of the main reasons of pollution is the plastic which remains undegraded in the soil for years and if burnt causes high level of air pollution. And the problem of plastic seems to be very high in urban regions where plastic bags are seen as an easy medium for carrying goods. Pollution has increased even more because of lack of idea of recycling and reuse.
