Dubai 17.06.2013 World Day to Combat Desertification-2013 

To Combat Desertification and stand up strong to say Don't let our Future Dry Up SynergY youth supported by Al Futtaim Carillion associated together with Goumbook Give a Ghaf - Tree Planting Program on World Day to Combat Desertification 2013.

The morning witnessed the pledge being taken under the shade of a big Ghaf Tree at Safa Park, Dubai for 111 National Trees –Ghaf Tree Plantation this season.  A special Symbolic Ghaf Tree, adopted three years ago was also handed over to Goumbook to make it the Good Luck Count as pointed by SynergY

I met Tatiana Antonelli Abella the founder of Goumbook and initiator of the Give a Ghaf tree Planting Programme at the Radio show on Earth Day and planned this activity since then.  The Support by Al Futtaim Carillion contributed to the prefect SynergY. 

I feel that Becoming a part of Give a Ghaf - Tree Planting Program has allowed me to learn a lot more about Ghaf tree in one morning and I can imagine what our members can look forward to with our regular interaction and association with Goumbook

 Kristien Uytterschaut Project Manager Goumbook Give a Ghaf - Tree Planting Programme  valued the efforts of SynergY Youth group led by me by saying -We appreciate you doing this on the day chosen to combat desertification worldwide, since locally, this is the best tree in regards to its little use of water, the intricate root system that keeps the dunes in place and the tree that embodies so much of this great desert people. Also present during the event were Tatiana Antonelli Abella, Managing Director Goumbook, Stuart Mee, Head of Sustainability Al Futtaim Carillion and other key officials.  The tree plantation will be organized on the World Plantation Day 2013 in October by SynergY members.
