[October Thematic Report] Renewable Energy

by Mahdia Mohseni | 29-10-2022 16:56

Renewable energy is energy produced from sources like the sun and wind that are naturally replenished and do not run out. Renewable energy can be used for electricity generation, space and water heating and cooling, and transportation. Non-renewable energy, in contrast, comes from finite sources that could get used up, such as fossil fuels like coal and oil.

Renewable energy has enormous benefits to the environment, economy, human health, sustainability and reducing carbon emissions and air pollution from energy production. fossil fuel can affect human health by releasing air and water pollution while, wind, solar, and hydroelectric systems generate electricity with no associated air pollution emissions. Geothermal and biomass systems emit some air pollutants, though total air emissions are generally much lower than those of coal- and natural gas-fired power plants.

There are many types of renewable energy such as, solar energy which is radiations from the sun.

wind energy, is the use of wind turbines to generate electricity.

Hydropower, or hydroelectric power, is one of the oldest and largest sources of renewable energy, which uses the natural flow of moving water to generate electricity.
