![]() ![]() Recently I attended the Environmental Community Lecture organized by the EEG on the 28th May 2013. It clinched a very happening topic: Wonderful Wildlife. According to the legal definition, ?within the realm of the law, animals are divided into two primary categories: Domestic animals within the direct dominion and control of humans and the wildlife that remain outside human control.
How do we protect wildlife? Legal Framework-laws and regulations on wildlife protection Governance framework- local and global governance, policies and strategies by governments. Social Frame work- Education, awareness, individual commitment Protection methods
This lecture was ably delivered by Mr. Abdul Aziz Abdulla Al Midfa, who is the Vice Chair person of the EEG. Mr. Al Midfa has done the B.S in natural science from the Western Oregon state university in the USA. He also pursued his masters from the UAE University. After having served the ministry of environment at Qatar, he moved on to the national Evion Research centre in Abu Dhabi to take up the position as Head of International Relations. This lecture was a very informative and interesting one and it was amazing to attend this one. We were informed on many facts of wildlife and all in all it was a wonderful experience. He told us about the species of wildlife in the uae such as the Arabian Oryx, Sand Gazelle, Arabian Mountain Gazelle, Arabian Tahr, Arabian Leopard, Hare, Spiny-tailed Lizard and many others. |
