          Happy World Environment Day to all of you! I celebrated this day by giving more momentum to my environment activities. I visited 28 flats in my neighbouring building and collected newspapers from them for recycling. Normally I collect old papers from 15 flats every weekend . So today 15 has increased to 28. I have told them to retain papers for me which I would collect from them regularly . Also I requested them to keep all plastic (milk/water bottles etc) , aluminium cans for recycling. I requested few Managers of plastic manufacturing organisations to make sure that they dont throw their unwanted plastic inventory and rather send to EEG or Bee'ah for recycling . If they cant , they can count on me to coordinate and organise that. Also during the day ,I tried to spread the message about "say no to food wastage" by sharing my write up on"food wastage during social gatherings" with FB pages , Media , environment groups. Towards the evening , we got the surprise package in the form of SHARJAH ENVIRONMENT AWARENESS AWARD(SEAA) 2013 by Bee'ah. We , team of 10 DPS Sharjah students , under the guidance of our Environment deptt Head Ms Anjum, had been working on this for couple of months. Recently Inspection team from Bee'ah had visited our school and seen our project. They asked us different type of questions related to our project and on environment in general. They seemed to be really happy and impressed with our school and our team. We started having hopes from that time itself. We were invited for this grand award ceremony today at 5pm . We kept our fingers crossed and that moment came when they announced First prize winner our school Delhi Private School . We were so thrilled . Our Principal Ms. Vandana Marwaha , Environment deptt Head Ms Anjum and we 10 girls went with pride on the stage and received the award. TV channel reporters and newspaper reporters were keen to interview us . WOW! What an environment day it was . What a motivation & encouragement this award would give us to continue doing work towards environment. |
