Litter near benches

by | 06-06-2013 15:06

On a Saturday morning when I was lounging for a lungful of fresh air while walking on the Heart of Sharjah Corniche, my nose caught a foul smell. On turning towards the direction of the smell, I noticed litter left on a bench. It seemed that a group of people, after enjoying their meals in the evening, had left the leftover food & drinks on the bench, a place where people sit. And this litter was rotting up the whole night.  Whereas, it can easily be thrown into a waste bin kept at a stone?s throw away. This is very lazy & irresponsible behavior of the public. These people don?t acknowledge the efforts put up by the municipality authorities to make our area a beautiful tourist spot. Sharjah Heritage area & Sharjah Art Museum are in the vicinity. Numerous foreigners visit this area daily. If this kind of behavior is put up by the people of our area, our area will soon lose that tourist touch.

Next day, I noticed another bench littered. Further, people often throw litter in the sea at night which floats shabbily in the morning.

Benches are meant for sitting. Especially in the morning walkers need to sit a bit to relax. It is my humble request to the residents of not only my area but to all the readers that to take a little bit of extra effort & to throw garbage in the bins.
