Addressing a kids group on various environmental issues...by | 05-06-2013 02:24 |

![]() ![]() ![]() There are many groups which focus around the activities of children and try to empower them to continue them. I recently found about a group by the name of BSBQ Children's Club. This is a club formed with the resident children of one big building in Dubai. The children are not only taught different creative things by the club co-coordinators, they are most importantly taught about their responsibilities to be responsible citizens of tomorrow. I was invited as a motivational speaker for their 1st year anniversary event. At first, being a motivational speaker really frightened me because I got confused as to whether to make it an Obama-like speech or a Ziglar-like one. But then I realized that my association with various environmental forums like TUNZA Eco-generation, Green Brigade, EEG etc could actually be my topic and I hoped that our story would inspire them. I briefed on various points on environmental issues and what we can do as an individual. It was a gathering of about 150 people including kids ranging from grade -1 to grade 12 and at the end of my presentation, many kids and their parents had come to me and inquired about many finer details about the Global green movement and how they can be part of the same. I was really overwhelmed at their response. There was also the 'Best Out Of Waste' competition items which were displayed there, it I was delighted to know that they had made all of it out of whatever they could find at their homes. I really liked the way they were organizing their programmes and competitions. Normally we don?t come across such housing society clubs associated with such positive works and normally we don?t see this kind of societies are involved only with maintenance of the building complex etc. So from that point of view, it was a very unique experience. At the end, pledged Green Brigade's support to all their activities for the coming future. |
