Dubai Municipality invites SynergY to plant 50 more trees at the Ponds Designed for Beautification and Pollution Control

In just over a month, SynergY groups eco-friendly members make a trip back to the Jebel Ali Hazardous Waste Treatment Facility as we are invited by Dubai Municipality to plant 50 more trees with purpose to beautify the built ponds and also help in pollution control by adding-on to the earlier count of 120 trees, that were planted by SynergY at the facility during Earth Day 2013.  These trees have grown remarkably and the children were super excited to go back to check on them, take pictures with the trees they had planted and at the same time plant some new trees too.

As the founder of SynergY I am overwhelmed with delight and find it is a fulfilling experience not only for me but also for other members, as they live out the connection they made with the flora and environment hence I am grateful to Engineer Abdul Majeed Saifaie, Director of Waste Management Department (WMD) of Dubai Municipality, and avow that the success of Plant for the Planet Campaign initiative started a month back by Dubai Municipality, SynergY, Super Galvanizing and Green Creations is a result of his support to the youth and community as a whole.  I cannot forget his words which I mentioned at the recent radio interview (Link- http://bit.ly/10ctG9v) -that we all need to work actively and reduce the need of landfills but sadly and currently this is happening at a very slow pace.  Glad that some other groups are following Synergy and visiting Tadweer Waste Composting Site and Hazardous Waste Landfill site, which were highlighted by our raising awareness. Representing the voice of youth the labor and efforts by the SynergY team, who joyfully planted trees at the new ponds built by Dubai Municipality fully support the explanation given by Engineer Salem Ahmed Ablam, Head of Hazardous Waste Unit, -this plant moisture loving specimen of perennial trees will now create a lush, vertical background to beautify the pond and will reflect in the ponds surface and make the environment friendly.

The students gathered very valuable information from the lecture and presentation given by the officials present about Medical Waste, segregation of medical waste, the process involved in the incineration or the burning of this waste and how the plant works and manages this.  They were privileged to visit the monitoring room also and got to see on the screens how the medical waste bags are moved into the furnace and burn into ashes saving us all from the many dangers and threats this would pose otherwise.  A praiseworthy thought and future vision for the new generations.

SynergY is praised as stated and I quote- The initiative and enthusiasm shown by SynergY members was very fulfilling and support the environment one hundred percent  because the main purpose and one of the biggest challenge of the landfill is to contain the trash and manage it efficiently so that it doesn't cause problems in the environment.

SynergY  is progressively advancing and presenting to the community what difference and change determined young students can make by gaining direction and willingly working towards the Future We Want.

Some Known friends from Tunza Eco Generation present and I would like to credit them too - Mohammed Zoheb, Samreen Haneefa, Rohan Kapur, Arushi Madan.
