![]() ![]() ![]() // this article is supposedly to be submitted as my entry in the Eco-generation's Monthly Event for April but I happened to be on off-access to the internet and I just logged in right now, after the deadline. Well, better luck next time to me :)) // ♦ ♦ ♦ Pauline, a second year high school student of Tagum City National High School [Science High School], is a hidden Eco-hero for this reason: her humility despite all of her achievements and contributions for the environment & her school organization. Pauline is a silent person but yet not an awkward one. She talks when she has something good to speak, or ask. Most of the time she asks me questions about the schedules of environmental workshops in the recently concluded Youth for Environment Summer (YES) Camp 2013 held in Baguio City, Philippines. This is due to her STRONG drive in learning more about the environment and how to help it. She also shares her ideas about environment-related activities that we can implement & conduct in our school for our fellow students to be more engaged in the environmental advocacy of the Youth for Environment in Schools Organization (or what we call the 'YES_O'). This determined student, who happened to be around me every class days, has attended a lot of initiative-driven environmental activities of the above-mentioned school organization. Some of those, among many other more, are her participation in the four-week School/Community Clean-up Drive, her attendance in the YES Camp 2013wherein she has learned a lot & gained a lot more of ideas for the club, and her active involvement in the YES-O's Fellowship & Soil Bagging Day. She has attended many activities, actually, but she does not bloat about her participation. She is a very humble girl and I only happened to witness her attendance in these 3 activities because I joined the same too. If you will look to this student, she may appear just as ordinary as the others but if you'll observe her closely, she is definitely a hidden Eco-hero. She throws garbage on proper places. Simple, yes, a very simple act but not all youth today is realizing the value of doing the rightest thing even how small it may be. Aside from her excellence in terms of action, Pauline is also an honor-student of her batch. In fact, she is the FIRST HONORS during the Recognition Day. Only she is not a Eco-hero but also a hero of her parents for repaying them with her achievements. Environmentally & academically displaying her excellence BUT with humility, Pauline. ♦ ♦ ♦ // Thank you for reading. Looking forward for your good comments :). I might also share to you our double-packed YES Camp 2013 experience in Baguio City, Philippines - the country's Summer Capital. //
