The use of millions tones of wood was highlighted in my earlier report by local factory of Jabalpur  and photographs were  posted here.

As a solution our active member ,  Shibajyoti met with  related officers of  local factory  and suggest for  reduction on  use of wood and save forest.

After 3 meetings as a solution , steel pallets were developed for trail run.

 Steel pallet having following advantages /  disadvantages were noticed :

1. Initial Investment is  500% more than  wooden pallet. Wooden pallet is available by   Rs. 1800 for the Cabin shown here . Steel pallets costing is  Rs. 9,000 including painting.

2.  For recycling of pallets need to be spent money Rs. 1000/- for  transportation  for distance  1000 KM .

3.  Scraped Wooden pallets are being sold by Rs. 200/-.

4.   Saving per trip Rs. 1,800 -  Rs. 1000 - Rs 200 =  Rs. 600/-

5.   Recovery on Investment =  Rs. 9000 / Rs 600  =  15  trip.

6.   As per estimation , one pallet can be recycled at least for 50 times.

After 50 trips, saving will be like this:-

wooden pallets :- (  Rs. 1800  - Rs 200 ) x 50  =  Rs. 80,000/

Steel pallets   :-  Rs.  9000 +  50 x Rs. 1000/-  =  Rs. 59000/-

Saving =  Rs. 80,000/-  - Rs. 59,000/-    =    Rs.  21,000 +   Saving of  4 tones wood.

So   Steel Pallet is  a better solution  wherever  same types of materials are being  transported year after year.
