![]() ![]() Click here to find me on Facebook. :) This is the first instalment of my report on the three-day Environmental and Research Seminar-Workshop I organized together with the Filipino Youth Research Organization (FYRO) and Bunawan National High School (BNHS).
Kicking off with the theme "Research and Development: Our Voyage Towards Environmental Sustainability," the three-day Environmental and Research Seminar-Workshop was held in the Science Laboratory of Bunawan National High School, Bunawan, Agusan del Sur, 8506 Philippines last April 2-4, 2013. The event emphasized the importance of research in attaining our goal of environmental protection and sustainability.
We started with a prayer, followed by the singing of the Philippine National Anthem. The opening remark was given by Mrs. Jennyvi H. Papellero, FYRO Bunawan Adviser. Meanwhile, Mr. Romeo A. Villarin acknowledged the participants and speakers. Then, I gave the background on Tunza Eco-generation and how the participants can use the environmental networking platform, how to register, what the opportunities awaits them and how to get involved in protecting the environment in their small ways. The closing ceremony was done by Mrs. Julieta V. Diango.
The lecture proper followed immediately.
Introducing the first speaker from the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) was Mrs. Jenny C Granada. Mr. Modesto U. Lagumbay, DENR-CENRO of Bunawan delivered his speech and presentation related to the theme. Only one speaker from the government was able to attend the morning session. Thus, we immediately started with the research seminar. Mrs. Papellero was tasked to introduce what research is. Two winning research projects from BNHS were presented after the introduction so as to excite the participants and encourage them to listen intently to the next speakers. The winning projects will be featured later.
This ends the morning session of the first day. |
