Today is Maria Sibylla's birthday anniversary. Maria Sibylla Merian was born on 2 April 1647.She was a well known botanist artist and the best of her time.

She was one of the first persons who took interest in the insects as earlier they were regarded as devils and were not deeply studied. Her work of creating art pieces of the insects placed her among one of the first naturalists to have observed insects directly. This approach gave her much more insight into their lives and was contrary to the way that most scientists worked at the time.

Some basic information:
Maria Sibylla Merian was a Swiss naturalist and scientific illustrator who studied plants and insects and painted them in great detail. Her careful observations and documentation of the metamorphosis of the butterfly makes her a significant, albeit not well-known, contributor to entomology.

Maria is among the very first women in the field of science. She inspires us to find new ways and stop being a mere follower of what others believe in!
