(October free report) wind power

by Nadir Huseynov | 20-10-2022 14:50

Wind energy is the motion (kinetic) energy possessed by the air flow that creates the wind. It is considered one of the alternative energy (renewable) sources. A part of this energy can be converted into useful mechanical or electrical energy. Wind energy is the most profitable among other alternative energy sources such as solar, hydropower, geothermal and biomass energy due to its cost, environmental cleanliness and inexhaustibility. Wind power has been used for many years. Sailing ships and windmills can be shown as the first examples of wind power utilization. Later, wind power was also used for grain grinding, water pumping, and tree cutting. Nowadays, it is used to produce more electricity. It is one of the more efficient technologies for the production of electricity. The construction of wind turbines takes less time than the construction of traditional power plants. Besides, wind is actually a constant source of natural energy that any country has. The use of wind energy is one of the fastest growing fields of energy. It is considered appropriate to use wind energy mainly in Baku, Sumgayit, Absheron, Bina, and Mashtag on the territory of Azerbaijan. The wind regime of Azerbaijan has a complex nature. This is due to the fact that 60% of the country's territory consists of mountainous zones. Mountains have a great influence on the climate and wind regime of the Republic. For example, the Great Caucasus mountains play the role of a barrier and prevent cold air masses from entering the territory of the country from the north and northeast. Cold air masses pass around the Greater Caucasus mountains and enter the territory of the Republic from the Absheron peninsula. Therefore, the average annual wind speed in Zagatala is 1.2 m/sec. and in Absheron it is 8.6m/sec. The Azerbaijan Scientific Research Energy Institute divided all the flüger observation materials collected at the Republic's Meterological stations into groups and determined the following types of wind speed distribution regimes according to the regions' landscapes: Type A regime - in Absheron and the northern borders of the Republic up to the Kur language It is typical for places in the Caspian zone.
