The Lulu walk for wellness was held on 29-March-2013 with great Zeal and Zest at the Zabeel Park, Dubai. It was a 5 KM walk held to raise funds for diabetes research programmers and healthcare facilities for diabetic patients. It managed to attract a humungous number of people from all over the UAE. The walk started at 9 am. Many companies, individuals and children of all ages were holding banners placards and blow horns which made the walk a lot livelier, enthusiastic and energetic altogether and everybody was shouting out slogans to get into the atmosphere of spreading the awareness about diabetes. We all walked the 5KM distance enthusiastically which started at Gate no. 1 and ended at Gate no. 2. After the walk the park became a disco as everyone started dancing to their favorite groovy tunes and there were many game stalls giving away free prizes and lots of free activities such as face painting, tattooing, etc. and so many different sponsors gave out free popcorn, candy floss, corn, ice-cream, oranges, apples, etc. which turned out to be a yummy delight for all of us. From the past two years I have been attending the Beat Diabetes walk by Landmark group and this was another step taken by me to spread awareness about the silent killer which every fourth person possesses nowadays-Diabetes. I had completely dedicated this walk to my maternal grand-parents who are diabetic and wish them a healthy and safe life and I want to break this chain as this is a hereditary disease and that¡¯s why I always encourage my mother to go for a walk. Through this letter, I would like to spread awareness to all the citizens of the world about diabetes and how harmful it is. |
