Painting a green future of U.A.E.

by | 27-03-2013 12:03

MASDAR, renewable energy company in Abu Dhabi, organised the  Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week Artwork Competition in the month of January 2013.The contest asked students to submit artwork that creatively addressed the question: ?What does a green, sustainable future look like in the U.A.E ??

I took part in the competition  so that I  could creatively express my vision of a green U.A.E. My interest in art helped colour my imagination of a green and sustainable future in the U.A.E. I used water colours to paint a leaf growing in the barren desert with images of sustainable living inside it . The flag of  U.A.E was set as a background to a tree  that symbolized hope and growth of a green  and sustainable future.

The competition received more than 50 entries from 18 schools across Abu Dhabi, Dubai  Sharjah and Egypt . The winners were chosen based on how creatively they expressed the importance of sustainability.I was delighted to be chosen as one of the 5 winners for the competition.  Masdar awarded i Phones and iPad minis to  the five winners of the contest. I  was equally happy to get a chance to visit the Masdar city ,the worlds first sustainable city.It is also known as the zero-carbon and zero -waste city
