World Water Day 2013 learning by playing.

by | 24-03-2013 20:29

Nepal, the second richest country in fresh water sources is today battling against water scarcity in its major cities like kathmandu, Pokhara and many others. Researchers have put forward their reports which read,"the scarcity is the result of ignorance in the efficient utilization of the water resources as there is abundance of water in this part of the world". The problem lies in the conservation, protection and proper utilization of the water resources. Amidst all these ongoing problems, Mechi Koshi Vidyarthi Sangam, a student group at Institute of Agriculture and Animal Science celebrated the World Water Day 2013 with the theme of raising awareness among the students, local residents and stakeholders on preserving the water resources and promoting the biological diversity in the area.
The program was divided into five sections:

1. Introducing indigenous breed of fish in Rampur Wetland:
Labeo rohita (Rohu) and Cirrhinus mrigal (Naini/mrigal) were introducedd in the Rampur Wetland. The aim was to promote the ecosystem of the area and maintain the biodiversity.

4. Cleaning the Rampur Wetland Periphery:
We assumed that to motive others first of all we need to set an example and in this case we were correct because everyone joined us in cleaning the area including the nearby ponds. Everybody must be proud of themselves for contributing to conserve our mother Earth.

We believe that nothing is impossible and the only thing that needs to make it possible is the effort from every individual. The mighty ocean stands because of the accumulation of drops of water.

So, its an urge to everyone in this biosphere to come together and strengthen this effort to preserve our Earth and pass it to the coming generation all sound and well.

WE LOVE YOU, MOTHER EARTH!!!!
