[SEPTEMBER FREE REPORT] HOW WE CAN MAKE AN IMAPCT

by Bethelhem Ayalew Kebede | 19-10-2022 00:50

A topic that has been drilled into every child in Ethiopia is the impacts of deforestation and how it has led to different problems in our country. For instance landslides due to erosion, famine, and loss of diverse wildlife. These children are taught all the problems that have arisen, but no solutions to these problems that we, the youth can carry out. We are not informed about activities that we can carry out, so we live our lives in ignorance of ways to solve our problems.
An important lesson we need to learn is, no one is going to hand us opportunities to do good on a silver platter. We need to go looking for ways we can make a change in our world. We need to take the initiative and find opportunities to help our environments starting with our communities. For example, go to your local community office and ask for a position as an intern, you will be working with your neighbours and local community officials on environmental beauty. You don't have to go start a global movement to make a change(which you could if you wanted to), you can start small from your local communities to your schools and someday maybe you could achieve something on a global scale.
Another thing you could also do is create opportunities for others to protect your environment. If you want to be able to make a difference feel free to contact me as I have started a youth-led organization for young environmental activists looking to make a change. Our organization called Young Environmentalists of Ethiopia will work with students from different schools in Ethiopia to spread environmental awareness.
