The closing ceremony of UNEP?s First Universal Session of the Governing Council was a momentous occasion attended by the GC president , the Executive Director of UNEP and the Executive Secretary of UNFCCC alongwith several ministers and delegates who had come to attend this summit.

It was therefore a huge honour for me to be chosen to speak on behalf of my Major Group at this ceremony and put forth the views of the Children and Youth to the ministers and dignitaries .

I spoke on the urgent need to take immediate action  and not waste any more time , in order to preserve our environment for future generations.
