by | 10-03-2013 01:27

Term of the year: Water Cooperation Building Partnership.

The 2013 water week is scheduled universally between 18-22 March with the term Water for Cooperation Building Partnership, and each country has its way to organize the ceremony of  this Water Week. In Rwanda four organizations of youth (Rwanda Young Water Professionals, Rwanda Alliance for Climate Actions, Young Volunteers for Environment and Rwanda WASH Media) working with environment and conservation issues have prepared the event together and make it a big day. The water day in Rwanda by the youth is scheduled on 19th March 2013 and event activities will be based on Walking and Community Building Activity.

Government presenter, local authorities and Youth from Rwanda Young Water Professionals, Rwanda Alliance for Climate Actions, Young Volunteers for Environment and Rwanda WASH Media will meet at Kimisagara Youth Center on 19th March with 2 banners and bearing T-shirt written on "Water Day. Water Cooperation Building Partnership" and begin a Walking to the small river Mpazi for the Community Building Activity.

The Mpazi river is located in Kimisagara sector, Nyarugenge district Kigali City. Its borders have been destroyed by recent violent rains which have destroyed in the same time the nearby houses and take off the life of people in the area.

The Community Building Activity will be based on making a strong wall on the border of the river constituted by sand sacs. We have prepared 600 empty sacs that we will full with sand. Building this wall is not a work for one day with facilitation of the Government we will work with local community which will keep building the wall after 19th March.

The youth of Rwanda is active and is involved in Green Economic Generation activities.
