We exist on a planet where some of the resources are finite, yet we've not acted accordingly. By not being fully responsible in our development, we have obliterated resources and life forms that our children could have enjoyed.

What I sometimes regret is that I never got to see the dodo, because my forefathers did not care to save it .And if I don?t care about the tigers, as they are on the verge of extinction, the future generation will never get to see them. When the world realizes that their (the animals on the verge of extinction) days are numbered, individuals, zoos and museums selfishly go out into the wild to secure specimens for their collections. Their selfish act deprives the future generations from having the companionship of this species. Whatever niche it filled, it has definitely created a vacuum because of our short-sighted actions.

As we move out into our world full of dreams and desires, whether to a university, college, work place or elsewhere, we all have responsibility − to take these things into account and strive hard to ensure a better tomorrow. Maybe we can make a career in environmental sciences as I wish to do so. We can devise ways to do things better. We can invent a small windmill so we have one on every house? Clothes-lines for drying clothes work a lot better than dryers. Clothes-lines are environmentally beautiful but we can work on inventing one that takes in the clothes when it rains?

Mission Earth is my dream. My motto is Look after our planet it?s the only one we have got. As responsible stewards of our planet we should make every possible attempt to leave this world a better place than when we came.

We can start on a mission to build a better tomorrow. It is we who can and have to make a difference. We need to care about our planet and what kind of environment we are going to hand on to the future generations is our responsibility. Yes, that definitely means our children and grandchildren.
