Green Holiday Campaign in Korea

by | 08-02-2013 21:10

February 10 is a Lunar New Year in Korea and the nation will have a break until Monday.
Our Ministry of Environment launches a green holiday campaign which urges people to use 'Bo-ja-gi', our traditional gift wrapping cloth, for the presents rather than using disposable wrapping paper.
In major train and bus terminals in Korea, there has been demonstration of wrapping gifts with bo-ja-gi, and exhibition of gifts in various colored and textured bo-ja-gi.
It is a part of campaign from Ministry of Environment to promote 'energy-saving' and reduce 'green-house effect'.

I put pictures of my own bo-ja-gi gift wrapping at home.

Happy Lunar New Year to every green-fighters at E-gen! :D

Bojagi: Traditional Korean wrapping cloth. It comes in square shape and can be made from variety of materials though silk is common. Bojagi has many uses such as gift wrapping, food covering, carrying and decorating.
