When consumers go into stores in the United States, they confronted by many products that have labeling that claim that they are green and eco-friendly products. However in many studies and research conducted by consumer advocacy group have found that many of the claims are no more than a misleading advertising. These days people are more aware of their impact on the environment, they are making conscious effort to purchase eco-friendly products. Because of this trend, product manufacturers are quickly adapting their product packaging and marketing message to take advantage of the green movement. Because of this, there are many products on store shelves that claim to be green and eco-friendly but in reality, are not. In order to protect consumers there must be regulations to standardize and simplify eco labels so that the consumers can clearly know whether the products they are using are really eco-friendly or not.
