       We, the members of Jharkhand Children's Green club had taken initiative during 2011 to celebrate our birthday parties in Eco friendly way. During participation in Monthly Photo essay contest of Dec?12 of Tunza Eco Generation contest , once again we had discussed the issue and listed below solutions to follow them. 1. Use bicycles for transportation in place Car . 2. Decide a suitable venue of the party to suit minimum travel to attend the party by guests. 3. Invite verbally /email/SMS to avoid sending Cards . 4. Decorate with Rangoli ( colourful decoration ) and energy efficient appliances lighting. 5. Offer plants / Seeds as gift in place of synthetic gifts. 6. Organise cultural-programs or games by ourselves to avoid DISCO / High power music system. 7. Use local vegetable as food, non-vegetarian food to be avoided. 8. To use fruits / salad to avoid cooking. 9. Use solar cooker and pressure-cooker to prepare food. 10. During picnic dry leafs and branches of trees can be used in forest. 11. Use plates made of leafs and glasses made of mud to avoid plastic plates bowls / glasses. 12. Use direct tape-water in place of packed in water-bottles,. 13. Use paper / cloth bags in place of plastic-bags during bringing different items and offering gifts. 14. Avoid cup ice-cream to avoid use plastic cup , better to bring bar ice cream . 15. Collect waste in separate bins to recycle and use for making compost. Like these many such points / ideas can be listed. Implanting many such ideas may not be possible by many of us. We had tried to follow most of them in our parties, mainly during birthday party we tried to follow them. These ideas are not new. Many such green ideas are there and known to all of us. Need to implement them in our practical life. So The solutions are available to make our nature greener, Need to implement them by each of us to make Earth gainer. |
