The United Arab Emirates is planning for a future less dependent on oil. By 2020, the UAE leadership has committed to producing 7 percent of its energy through renewable sources, an initiative that is led by its investment in green energy from MASDAR.

Abu Dhabi, the capital of UAE has committed more than 15 $ billion in renewable energy programmes . The Abu Dhabi Future Energy Company known as Masdar is fully committed to finding low cost renewable energy technology on a large scale.

One of the Masdar initiative is the Masdar city, the world first carbon neutral,zero waste city totally supplied and powered with renewable energy. Masdar city will be a blue print for cities all around the world striving for sustainability.The Masdar city will test the boundaries of current and future thinking of sustainable living.

Recently UAE  has been awarded to become home of the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) in Abu Dhabi?s Masdar city.Masdar and IRENA share the same vision. Many of Masdar?s !--object--ives are aligned with IRENA?s mission in seeking to advance renewable energy around the world.
