Taal Volcano and Taal Lake in the Philippines

by Bam Azores | 02-01-2013 22:08

Happy New Year, Eco-Gen friends!

Our family spent the New Year's Eve in one of the coldest places in the Philippines called Tagaytay City.  This City is on a mountaintop that overlooks Taal Lake and Taal Volcano.  This is the world's smallest volcano and it is a volcano in the middle of a lake. Taal Volcano is part of the Pacific Ring of Fire and is considered to be an active volcano.

Tagaytay City is a major tourist spot in the Philippines and the view of Taal Volcano and Taal Lake is one of the reasons tourists come to visit the place.

Taal Lake is surrounded by eleven towns in the province of Batangas. There are a lot of fishcages in the lake and this causes water pollution.  There were several fishkills in the past years and people blame it on the fishcages.
