This unique date sequence , 12 - 12 - 12 , will only recur after a hundred years. What will our world look like in a hundred years? Will it be green and beautiful ? Well, at the current rate of pollution and biodiversity degradation its more likely that Earth will become a lifeless, hot planet like Venus in a hundred years from now.

So this day for me was one of giving back to nature. Emirates Environmental Group(EEG) , organized a ?CLEAN UP UAE? on this day and as reported in the press 42,000 people participated across the UAE. As a longtime member of EEG, I took part in this clean up. Clearing up the  pollution by taking part in the wonderful "Clean Up UAE" campaign was a great step in our march towards sustainability. But what I would really like to do is to encourage people to stop littering in the first place !

I spent the second half of the day planting 32 saplings. Fighting land  degradation is my passion and I use every occasion to plant trees. As a climate justice ambassador for Plant-for-the-Planet , I truly believe that  trees equal to life . Let us all pledge to achieve the goal of zero net land degradation neutrality within this decade.
