Double Ambassador and Schoolaturahmi Project Declared

by | 07-12-2012 04:15

The day of 10-11-12 (10 Nopember 2012) was so special for me. There were 15 finalists, each brilliantly talented, battling it out to become the first ever SPEAK Ambassador and finally my presentation "Schoolaturahmi" Project, brought me as the 1st winner to be the Ambassador of SPEAK! Magazine.

Now having double-ambassador hats, I am fully aware of the magnitude of this position and will do my utmost to undertake the upcoming assignments.

As for the "Schoolaturahmi" Project itself, the name came from the combination of he words "School" and "Silaturahmi", loosely translated as 'sosial networking among schools' where student from different classes (and even different schools) were encouraged to know each other, occasionally made a visit to one school or another. The !--object--ive of the project is to inform schools community, especially student, to have better understanding about disaster in their areas. Because if disaster comes, all we have been doing may be ruined, lost... even our good environment.

Through "Schoolaturahmi" it's hoped we can promote a culture of disaster safety in school, by establishing school safety plans.  Once a school safety club is established, it can be linked to a wider circle of school safety network outside their area, and whenever possible, also linked with other similar network across the country or with other countries.

For further actions in the future, we are currently in the process of developing a "Schoolaturahmi" Center in Banjarmasin, South Kalimantan.
