![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() The Mazingira Challenge was held on the 6th of October, 2012 at Braeside High School. This is a debate forum held annually to provide a platform for students to discuss and present their ideas on the environmental problems that face the world of today. The theme of this year?s challenge was ?From Crisis to Sustainability?. The main !==!--object--==ives of the Mazingira challenge are to i) Encourage links between students in order for them to share knowledge and experiences on environmental issues ii) Empower young people to learn, be responsible in creating a better world iii) Encourage a sense of international and global thinking iv) Inspire students to take initiative in attainment of the UN MDGs and Africa?s development v) Create a forum for developing leadership skills This year, the teams competing came from Braeside High school, Oshwal Junior and Senior High, Precious Blood Girls High, Brookhouse, Rusinga and Greensteds schools. The team of students that presented a well researched and organised topic, with confidence, went home with the Mazingira Challenge shield. This time the Brookhouse team had the honour of doing so. The day ended with a tree-planting ceremony at Braeside?s Riparian Area. |
