Emirates Environment Group (EEG) had conducted their annual student's workshop from 15th. To 18th. Oct-12 in Dubai. The details of the workshop has already been reported by my fellow Ambassador Kehkashan Basu. In this report I would like to mention few other points.... The Students Workshop was a massive workshop where over 150 students had participated allover UAE. I was invited by EEG to present my various actions on environmental issues . I was the sole student on the day for the presentation. It felt very special to give a lecture on a topic that most probably everyone thinks very important but few are convinced to do something on ground level. I spoke about the issues on climate change and its effects in brief. Then I talked about my various initiatives and my ?Green Brigade? and the work that we do. After the presentation, in the Q& A sessions, there were few interesting questions came from the students community. One student asked me if ?Green Brigade? is sponsored by anybody. My answer was ?no? but I felt that people found it interesting that without any financial support also people can do a green job for the future. Also many students were amazed to note that within a short span, this group is developed to do something within people's capabilities and at the end of the presentation, many have requested to join the group for the good cause. The full speech can be found at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZHcY5wrI8V0. Also my speech received lots of praise from teachers and students alike. Ms. Padma Nandyal, an environmental author and a teacher by profession, had presented a book written by her to me just after my speech was over. It was really inspiring and it will remain cherished throughout my life. I was invited by many teachers at their schools to speak at their schools on the work that I am doing. At the end, Ms Karin Spori, representative for ?My Climate? (www.myclimate.org), Switzerland had recorded my message to the students community of Switzerland which will be delivered to them shortly. |
