The Science Express is spreading message of Biodiversity in India

The Science Express - Biodiversity Special -  (SEBS) is an innovative mobile exhibition mounted on a specially designed 16 coach AC train, traveling across India for last 4 and half  years. The SEBS is a unique collaborative initiative of Department of Science & Technology (DST) and Ministry of Environment & Forests (MoEF), Government of India.

The current decade (2011-2020) has been declared as the United Nations Decade on Biodiversity and United Nations Decade for Deserts and the Fight against Desertification. At the same time, India is also hosting the COP 11 meeting in Hyderabad during 8-19 October 2012. The SEBS, therefore, primarily addresses the theme 'Biodiversity'. The state-of-the-art exhibition aboard SEBS aims to create wide-spread awareness on the unique biodiversity of India, Climate Change, Water, Energy Conservation and related issues among various sections of the society, especially students. The train also presents exhibition on Legacy of the Science Express as well as the extremely popular VASCSC Joy of Science hands-on lab, besides a teachers,  training facility.

On  30 Oct. 2007 the train was flagged off  by our Prime Minister Dr. Monmohan Singh along with German Chancellor Dr. Angela Merkel,  In last four and half years, the train had covered over 68,000 km across the country and  63.60 lakh visitors got the opportunity to see the exhibition in it.

The team members of Jhrakhand Children's Green Club of Ranchi unit  had visited the train during July 2012 at Ranchi railway station. Our leader Surbhi had taken special interest to take her team members to see the exhibition in the train. Few photographs are attached here.
