 The Department of Environment and National Resources Secretary Paje encourages stakeholders to protect coral reefs around the Philippines. He said that stakeholders include fishermen, the tourism, fishing, and aquaculture industries; researchers; conservationists, etc. Researches showed that Marine Protected Areas that restricted human activities in the area for at least five years allows coral reefs to form and for fish populations to become more abundant and healthier. |
