![]() In Korean traditional medicine, bear-bile and gall bladders are regarded as a cure for certain conditions such as impotency and epilepsy. They have been sold in high prices, sometimes up to $25,000. Though the black bears are listed as an endangered species since 2007, many of them are caged and farmed in inhumane condition;however, in recent report from Dong-A-Daily, bear-farming industries are calling quits. Due to the high price of raising and keeping bears, and lack of demand make bear farmers to ask government to take bears off their hands. If the report stands firm and true, one animal getting off from the endangered species list in the near future will be not just wishful thinking.
