How to handle waste in your place? Well, some student in IPB had a new way to promote environmental awareness and also to separate organic and non-organic waste. This method were applicated to student in Junior High School, student can get some tools (book, pulpen, eraser and ruler) by exchange it with plastic or paper waste. This program were initiated by 5 IPB student, as a part of student creativity competition that held by ministry of education. Ministry of education fund this program and those student apply this program to the junior high school student. At the first place, we choose Sejahtera 4 junior high school that near IPB campus. In this place, we socialize this program to the student and then we choose cafetaria as the place to exchange waste. At the beginning of the program, student just can exchange they paper/plastic waste with book, pulpen, ruler and eraser. Our next program is to develop the item, not just stationery but we also plan to add another tools. This program start on February till may 2012, as the result we spread some quisioner to the student. That quisioner asking about student habit on separate waste became organic and non-organic after and before the programe. The result was suprising, before the programe, 96% student never separate the waste in their house and just 4% student doing that but after the program this number were increase till 41% and just 59% student still not doing separation on their waste. Beside that, we can collect 405 kg waste consist of 154 kg newspaper (38%), 107 kg books (27%), 13 kg pulpen (3%), 45 kg magazine (11%), 52 kg white paper (13%) and 34 kg plastic (8%).
